Some Wisdom in these sayings.

"Death" asked "Life" :
Why does everyone love you and hate me.
Life replied :
Because I am a beautiful Lie and you are a painful Truth

A Lovely Logic for a beautiful Life :
Never try to maintain relations in your life
Just try to maintain life in your relations.

Always welcome the problems,
Because problems give you dual advice
First, you know how to solve it
Second, you know how to avoid it in future.

3 stages of Life :
Teen Age – Has time & energy – But no Money.
Working Age – Has Money & Energy – But No Time.
Old Age – Has Money & Time – But No Energy.

We are very good Lawyers for our mistakes,
Very good Judges for other’s mistakes !

The world always says : Be friend good people and shun the evil ones !
But I say :  Find the good in people and ignore the bad in them.
Because No one is born perfect !

A sentence written on every Japanese bus stop :
Only buses will stop here – Not your time
So Keep walking towards your goal

Negative Thinkers focus on Problems.
Positive thinkers focus on Solutions !

Never hold your head high with pride or ego.
Even the winner of a gold medal gets his medal only when he bows his head down.

Define TODAY :
This is an Opportunity to DA work better than Yesterday

African Saying:
If you want to walk quick, walk alone.
If you want to walk far, walk together.

Confident Quote :
I have not failed.
My success is just postponed.

Entire water in the ocean can never sink a ship Unless it gets inside.
All the pressures of life can never hurt you Unless you let them in.

Europe's Herschel space telescope has imaged one of the most popular subjects in the sky - the Horsehead Nebula - and its environs. The distinctively shaped molecular gas cloud is sited some 1,300 light-years from Earth in the Constellation Orion. It is in a region of space undergoing active star formation - something Herschel has been most keen to study. The Hubble space observatory has also returned to the Horsehead scene, to celebrate 23 years in orbit.Together, these two great facilities give scientists a much broader insight into what is taking place in this familiar patch of the heavens.

World Book Day

World Book Day or World Book and Copyright Day (also
known as International Day of the Book or World Book
Days) is a yearly event on 23 April, organized by UNESCO
to promote reading, publishing and copyright. In the United
Kingdom, the day is instead recognised on the first
Thursday in March.
World Book Day was celebrated for the first time on 23 April
1995.
Choice of Date
The connection between 23 April and books was first made in 1923 by booksellers in Spain as a way to honour the author Miguel de Cervantes who died on that day.
In 1995, UNESCO decided that the World Book and Copyright Day would be celebrated on this date the date is also the anniversary of the birth and death of William Shakespeare, the death of Miguel de CervantesInca Garcilaso de la Vega and Josep Pla, and the birth of Maurice DruonManuel Mejía Vallejo and Halldór Laxness.
Although 23 April is often stated as the anniversary of the deaths of both William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes, this is not strictly correct. Cervantes died on 22 April and was buried on 23 April according the Gregorian calendar; however, at this time England still used the Julian calendar. Whilst Shakespeare died on 23 April by the Julian calendar in use in his own country at the time, he actually died eleven days after Cervantes because of the discrepancy between the two date systems. The apparent correspondence of the two dates was a fortunate coincidence for UNESCO.

India's 'human computer' Shakuntala Devi dies

World-renowned mathematical wizard and astrologer, aptly known as the Human Computer born in Namma Bengaluru, Shakuntala Devi passed away in a private hospital in the city on Sunday.

She was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago due to respiratory and heart related problems. She died of cardiac arrest at about 8.15am, leaving behind a legion of admirers. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law.

The maths prodigy who was born on November 4, 1939 in a poor family could not get good formal education, but Shakuntala's genius defied all the conventional norms of attaining knowledge. She was admitted to St Theresa's Convent in Chamarajpet for class I, but had to drop out as her parents could not afford the monthly fee of Rs 2.
.
She grew up in the slum-like environs of Gavipuram Guttahalli. Shakuntala Devi's father was a circus artist. It was once while she was playing cards with her father at the age of three that it was discovered that she is a calculating genius. When Shakuntala Devi was just 6 years old she demonstrated her calculation skills at the University of Mysore.
In 1977, she received a standing ovation from an audience of learned mathematicians when she extracted the 23rd root of a 201-digit number in just 50 seconds. A high-powered and sophisticated computer then took 62 seconds.

On 18 June in 1980, she solved the multiplication of two 13-digit numbers 7,686,369,774,870 x 2,465,099,745,779 that were randomly picked by the computer department of Imperial College in London. And this, she did in 28 seconds flat. Her correct answer to this multiplication sum was 18,947,668,177,995,426,462,773,730 setting up a Guinness Record.

REFLECTION

What do we learn from the Earth Day?

Can you imagine a time when you can be arrested and imprisoned, if you drink more than a glass of water a day? Or if you take a bath more than once a month? Last time we had our URI Global Council in Jordan and it was a shock for me to learn that there are no rivers in Jordan. I hail from Kerala, a small state in India where we have 42 rivers. But we have grown to a monstrous situation today that we pay 20 rupees (almost half a dollar) for a bottle of water, when we get a liter of milk for 30 rupees. During my school days my friends and me used to drink water from any stream of our village and today there are no such streams anywhere. Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer were our favorites, as we had something of them in us. It was sheer pleasure for us to swim in our rivers together with our cattle during the evenings after class. Those rivers are dead now. There were plenty of paddy fields where fishes were plenty. Those were natural water sheds, but today we find only concrete buildings all over.

So we are nearing towards the danger mark. You can be lucky, if you can drink a cup of water a day! Earth Day (April 22nd) reminds us to be wise and sane. Let all the poets of the world sing together for a redemption. Politicians are busy counting their nuclear warheads and bombs. Bombs will make deserts. Let us recite with Plato: “Only philosophers should rule the world”.

Earth Day

Earth Day is observed every year on April 22 to create awareness and support among the mass to protect the environment. The event is held worldwide to outreach to society and raise the issue on the occasion. Like every year, the world will be celebrating the 43rd anniversary of Earth Day on Monday, April 22, 2013.

In 1969, at the UNESCO Conference in San Fransisco, the concept to observe Earth Day on March 21 was first proposed by John McConnell. But a month later, Gaylord Nelso, U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, proposed April 22 as the date. Nelson was also a conservationist and environmental activist. Observance of Earth Day was proposed by Nelson as a national teach-in on the environmental issues right after the frightful oil spill off the coast in 1969. And in 1970, the idea to observe Earth Day in the United States was propelled by Denis Hayes who popularized it to the global level. Today Earth Day is observed in more than 192 countries. The global theme for Earth Day 2013 is "The Face of Climate Change" .

Every year on 18 April, International Council on Monuments and Sites
(ICOMOS) celebrates the “International Day for Monuments and Sites”, whose establishment was approved by the 22nd UNESCO General Conference in 1983.
The aim of the International Day for Monuments and Sites is to encourage local communities and individuals throughout the world to consider the importance of cultural heritage to their lives, identities and communities, and to promote awareness of its diversity and vulnerability and the efforts required to protect and conserve it.

World Heritage Sites in India

India’s first two sites inscribed on the list at the Seventh Session of the World Heritage held in 1983 were the Agra Fort and the Ajanta Caves. Over the years, 27 more sites have been inscribed, the latest site inscribed in 2012 being the Western Ghats. Of these 29 sites, 23 are cultural sites and the other six are natural sites. A tentative list of further sites/properties submitted by India for recognition includes 33 sites.

REFLECTION

Boston Marathon attracted nearly 27000 people this year, but some ‘terrorists’ wanted to steal the show. There are so many in our world who still think violence is the best means to attain their goal, which is a mere dream. They will even quote verses from their Holy Books in support of killing innocent people. There has to be a reversal of this ideology, which demands enormous efforts from all peace builders, irrespective of their religion and country. Let all peace lovers of the world unite and create cultures of integrity and harmony. If we allow evil forces to thrive, this beautiful world will become a hell. Peace education should get top priority even in schools.

REFLECTIONS

Are We marching towards the Kindom of God? Yes, says GPI Index

Dear friends,

In my book “Super Souls Revisited”, there is a conversation with Moses in heaven. One important point that he is highlighting is that God is helpless in transforming the world because He has given half of His self to us, beings on the planet. So God needs our support and wholehearted cooperation to complete the assigned task. If we fail, God also fails.

But the latest GPI (Global Peace Index) shows that we are marching towards the Kingdom of God/ Ramarajya/Perpetual Garden of Peace. According to the 2012 GPI, the world has improved in peacefulness for the first time since 2009. All regions excluding the Middle East and North Africa saw an improvement. (Our MENA region needs more support and prayers).  Top ten most peaceful countries are Iceland, Denmark, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, Austria, Ireland (what a welcome change! Ireland is the best example before us to show that there are alternatives to conflicts), Slovenia, Finland and Switzerland. The least peaceful countries are Somalia, Afghanistan, Sudan, Iraq, Dem. Republic of Congo, Russia, North Korea, Central African Republic, Israel and Pakistan. (For more details visit www.iprikarickam.blogspot.com)

One aspect is very clear. Peace is possible and URI has a thundering role to play here in this field. We don’t want more Kurukhsetras (terrible battlefields) to be repeated. When all the ‘catalysts for peace’ (Thanks to Libby Hoffman) around the world unite , definitely we will advance fast towards the glorious ‘garden’ of perennial peace.
