Love Poem No - 60 : I WAS BORN A TRIBAL
I
WAS BORN A TRIBAL
I
was born a tribal, in the lap of nature,
With
wings on trees, and scales on waters,
Jocund
as sea gull, I enjoyed my proud estate;
All
the jungle was dear home to me.
Suddenly
you came, saw me naked and crude,
Your
fellows followed, saw me un-Christian,
Yet
a few others saw me barbarian
And
quite a good number cursed my paganism
During the course you
civilized me,
But alas! I bemoan my fate
All I had, I have lost
Though well clad, you are naked inside.

Love Poem No - 59 : I AM AN ISLANDER
I
AM AN ISLANDER
I
am an islander
In
the midst of the Pacific,
Born
slim and slender
Because
of radiation.
My forefathers and kith and kin
Gigantic
and sturdy built;
But
I am born to shed tears
And
curse my invalid state always.
Look
at my brotheren with horns and tails,
Not
because of evolution;
Just
because of your mad horrors
That
posterity will never endure.
With big hearts in
nations small
We
brave the waves still to thrive,
You
big nations without hearts
Burn
us alive, don’t you learn?

Upanishads of India - 17
Mukthikopanishad – Part III
Sri Rama
continues his advice to Hanuman about the dimensions of true emancipation. One
who follows the true course of righteous actions and one who meditates on me
will be eligible for the above said dimensions of mukthi or salvation. One who
is contemplating on the name of Sri Rama eternally will free himself from his
own individuality and will become Sri Rama himself. Such a process is called
Sayugya Mukthi.
Hanuman is
not satisfied with this answer. He again persists in knowing the real meaning
of Kaivalya mukthi and the process of attaining the same. To this query Sri
Rama gives the answer that Mundakopanisnad alone will be enough for one who is
really craving for deliverance. If one doesn’t attain wisdom because of that, he
can study the ten principal Upanishads. If real wisdom eludes one still, he has
to peruse 32 Upanishads. If one is really craving for videhamukthi let him
follow 108 Upanishads which are to be mastered and he states that if any one listens
to all these Upanishads at least once in his life will definitely attain
salvation. He also warns that these Upanishads are to be given only to the real
devotee and not to atheists and people without real devotion.
It is from
Mukthikopanishad that we learn about the names of 108 Upanishads as Sri Rama
teaches Hanuman about all these. We learn the importance of Kashi also from
this because of Sri Rama’s advice about reciting Tharakamantra at Kashi. He
opines that if anyone is able to hear these 108 Upanishads at least once will
attain moksha.
Towards the
concluding part of this Upanishad we get a description about ‘Santhipata’ (lessons
for peace). Each Upanishad has one Santhipata. It is after the perusal of this
Santhimantra that one has to learn that Upanishad. There follows a description
about the Upanishads and their Santhipatas. He concludes with the statement
that wisdom is most essential for eternal bliss and for that learning of
Upanishads is a must.

Upanishads of India - 16
Mukthikopanishad
– Part II
Hanuman
continues his discourse with Sri Rama. He asked about the means of attaining
moksha. Some people say that they can derive salvation just by reciting the
name of Sri Rama. Others are of the opinion that if they chant Tharakamantra in
Kasi they will get Moksha. There are others who believe that moksha can be
attained by Sankya yoga and Bhakthi yoga. There are also many sages who are of
the opinion that contemplating on the meaning of Vedas will be enough for the
same.
Sages have
stated that there are four phases for salvation namely salokya, sameepya,
saroopya and sayugya mukthi. Salokya mukthi means gaining entry into Vishnu
loka (Gods Kingdom). If one can be seated near Vishnu it can be termed as
sameepya mukthi. At the stage of sarupya mukthi one will be continuously
contemplating the image of God. The process of immerging with God can be termed
as sayugya mukthi. If the jeevathma merges with the Parabrahma that state can
be described as Kaivalya mukthi. True Devotees raise up to these levels one by
one by their total dedication and surrender.
When Hanuman
expresses these thoughts Sri Rama commented as follows:
“Kaivalyamukthi rekhaiva
paramaarthika rupini
Duraachara
radho vaapimannaama bhajanat kape…..
Punaraavritthi
rahitaam mukthim
Praapnoothi
maanavaha:
Yathra
puthraapi vaa kashyam maranee sa maheswara:.”
[Actually there is only the Kaivalya
mukthi. Even if one is fond of evil rituals, just by reciting my name, he can
achieve salokya mukthi. One who recites my Tharaka mantra at Kashi during his
death will be eligible for moksha. One who dies where ever in Kashi will attain
salvation.]
