background of Karickam and Kottarakara (Ugrankunnu), which tells the history of
Kerala for about half a century. A scintillating love story, it captures the
idyllic beauty of a typical Kerala village. A number of characters, new and old appear before us as though from out of the blue. The socio-political history is unravelled in poetic style, which makes reading a sheer pleasure.
