WORLD TO ME A WILDERNESS
For the taste of his
teeth
My breasts cry and
die;
For the feel of his
life
My womb throbbs in
vain.
The star is for the sky,
The ship for the seas;
Fish is for the waters,
Lotus for the sun.
If I be not for him
And he ever for me,
This world a
wilderness
Though heaven for my
peers.
A day will come anon
For us to become one,
It cannot be long,
For the wedding bells to sound.
