Love Poem No. 47 - HASTEN THY COMING

HASTEN THY COMING

This starry phenomena, thy beauteous form
Oh! My foot trembles, my heart crumbles,
Forgive us Saviour, we made it a Sodom.

            Thy progeny dagger drawn
            Await the most auspicious moment
            To jump upon and cut the throat
            Of their brethren, unabashed,
            Along the road, in the temple,
            Within the church, inside the house,
            On the campus and everywhere,
            In the name of infinite nothings.

Starry worlds we have conquered,
Secret of life we have mastered;
Wonders over wonder we add with care
And rub shoulders with Thee even in creation;

            But within the space of an eye
            We could churn down all to ashes.
Painting and puffing under the yoke of time,
We march towards that ‘glorious’ hour.
How long wilt thou forget us oh…Lord?
Hasten thy coming, fasten us strong.

Dr. Karickam
