Upanishads of India - 9

Prashnopanishd-Part V

The next one to approach Pippalada Muni was Sathyakaaman (son of Sibi). He put forth the following question:

“Bhagavan, one who contemplates on omkara allthrough his life gains what world after his life upon the earth”?.

" Tasmai sahovaacha ethadwaisathyakaamaparam chaaparam
Cha Brahma yadomkara: thasmaadwidwaanaethe naivaetha
nenaika haramanwethi” – Part 5: 2

[ Hey Sathyakaama, this omkara is Parabrhma and Aparabrahma (Soul and the Super Soul). One who realizes this truth attains immortality].

The following stanza makes it clear that one who meditates on eka maatra omkara will become prosperous. He attains glory by thapas (meditation in the soul), brahmacharya and sradha(concentration).

Stanza IV states that one who contemplates on dwi maatra Omkara attains chandraloka. After enjoying all the pleasures there he comes back to the human world.

In stanza V we get the idea that one who continuously meditates trimaathra omkara attains the glorious Suryaloka or the world of the Sun. Just as the snake sheds its skin, he becomes free from all his sins and reaches the Brahmaloka or Heaven.

“Tisro maathraa mrithyumathya: prayukthaa
Anyonyasakta anaviprayukta:
kriasu bahyaanthara madhyamaasu
Samyak prayukthasu na kambathejna:     - Part 5:6

[One who comprehends the importance of three dimensions of Omkara will gain knowledge about Paramaatma or the Supreme Being].
