UPANISHADS OF INDIA - 10

Prashnopanishad- Part VI

The last one to come with a question to the Great Sage was Sukeshan( son of Bharadwaj). He posed the following question: “Bhagavan, this is a question which was actually asked by Hirnyanabhan, the Prince of Kosala Kingdom. I was not able to answer him. Who is the complete purusha and where does he reside?"

“Thasmai  sa ho vacha, ihaivanta: sareere somya
Sapurusho esminnetha:shodasakala:prabhavanthithi”

[The complete purusha with all the inherent qualities resides in this body itself. He thought about his destiny and the answer was the following: “He first created the soul, then the others like sradha, sky, air, water, thejas, earth, mind, indriyas and food etc were also created. All the other elements like thapas, mantras, karma and the world were designed after food.]

The most important idea is expressed in stanza V. Just as all the rivers flow towards the sea and become one with the same, all the aforesaid elements immerge with the Paramaatman(Over Soul) and become one with the same.

“Araa iva radhanabhou kalaa yasmin prathishtita:tham
Vedyampurusham vedayathaa maavomrithyu: parivyadha ithi”.

[Just like all the yokes of the chariot wheel are connected to its center, all the elements are depend on the Parameswar. One who understands this will not be afraid of death.]

At the end Pipalada Muni addressed all his disciples together and said thus: “This is all that I know about the Paramatma. There is nothing beyond.”

All the disciples bowed before the great muni and replied, “Oh Great Sage, we have crossed the ocean of ignorance by your grace. You alone are our father. Kindly accept our obeisance".

Prasanopanishat deals with the basic content of Indian philosophy.  Its interpretation led to the Vedanta and all transcendental knowledge of Advaitha.
